CLEVELAND — Miami Marlins rookie Jakob Marsee put on a show in front of a hometown crowd Wednesday night, delivering the best game of his young career in a 13–4 win over the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field.

The 24-year-old center fielder, born in Dearborn, Michigan and a product of Central Michigan University, went 4-for-5 with two home runs, a double, and a franchise record-tying seven RBIs. Even more impressively, every one of his runs batted in came with two outs.

Marsee wasted no time making his presence felt. In the first inning, with two down, he turned on a hanging sweeper from Guardians starter Gavin Williams and launched a three-run shot to right. By the third inning, he had added a single and stolen a base, showing off both his power and speed.

Cleveland struck back in the fourth when Gabriel Arias blasted a three-run homer off Miami starter Eury Pérez, knotting the game at 4–4. Pérez, who finished with eight strikeouts and no walks over five innings, earned the win to improve to 5–3 on the season.

Marsee broke the tie in the fifth, lining a 107.6 mph two-run homer — the hardest-hit ball of his career — off reliever Kolby Allard. He later added a two-run double in the sixth to match the franchise RBI mark, last achieved by Adam Duvall in 2021. According to MLB stats, he’s just the fifth player since 1995 to post at least a .400 batting average, .500 on-base percentage, and .800 slugging percentage over his first 13 career games.

Miami’s offense was rolling all night. Xavier Edwards opened the game with a solo homer, extending his hitting streak to eight games and raising his batting average to .447 in that stretch. Graham Pauley also went deep, and Agustín Ramírez capped the scoring with a two-run single in the seventh.

The win snapped a four-game skid for the Marlins, who tied their season-high run total. They’ll look to take the series in Thursday’s finale, with Edward Cabrera (6–5, 3.08 ERA) set to face Cleveland’s Tanner Bibee (8–9, 4.60 ERA).\
