Leonard Taylor and Zion Nelson Named to Two Major Watch Lists

Life Wallet congratulates both Life Wallet athletes Leonard Taylor and Zion Nelson for being named to watch lists for the Outland Trophy and the Nagurski Trophy by the Football Writers Association of America.  Both players are selections for the Outland Trophy which has been awarded to the best interior lineman in the country since 1946 in honor of College Football Hall of Fame member John H. Outland. Taylor is also a selection for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy which honors the National Defensive Player of the Year.

Taylor is a sophomore from Miami who. in nine games during the 2022 season ,totaled 21 tackles, 7.5 for a loss and two sacks. Nelson is a fourth-year junior out of Sumpter, S.C., who played in all 36 games since joining Miami in 2019. Nelson received an All-ACC Honorable Mention in 2021 and helped the Hurricanes average 444.5 yards per game the past two seasons.

The prestigious Outland Trophy was won by two prior Hurricanes, Russell Maryland in 1990 and Bryant McKinnie in 2001. The Hurricane Nagurski Trophy winners include Warren Sapp in 1994 and Dan Morgan in 2000. Life Wallet looks forward to the two prestigious trophies returning to Miami.  Good luck to you both.
