The preseason buzz for Miami junior safety Kamren Kinchens continues to build as the season quickly approaches. Monday morning ESPN released their preseason All-American team which listed Kinchens as a first team All-American heading into the 2023 season. ESPN consults with college coaches, NFL scouts, and reporters to project who they believe will be the best players on the field during this upcoming season.
Kinchens is one of three ACC players named to ESPN’s pre-season first team All-American squad, along with FSU defensive lineman Jared Verse and Clemson linebacker Barrett Carter. The star Miami safety is coming off of an impressive sophomore season that earned him first team All-ACC and AP first team All-American honors. In addition to being a pre-season All American, Kinchens is also projected by many to be a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Kinchens led the Canes in tackles in 2022 and was tied for the lead in interceptions among all players in the Power Five. Miami will pair Kinchens with another talented safety in former five-star James Williams to form what should be one of the top safety duos in all of college football. The two safeties complement each other extremely well and will play a major role in what is expected to be a much improved Miami Hurricanes’ defense.
