Miami is scorching on the recruiting trail, adding another elite player to their 2025 class. The Canes have just secured a commitment from SJ Alofaituli, one of the top overall prospects on their board and the nation’s number one center. The Top 247 four-star interior offensive lineman, standing 6’3” and weighing 300 pounds, had 24 offers and chose Miami over Michigan and Nebraska. Alofaituli is the fifth offensive line commitment in the class, ranked as the 77th player in the nation according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He joins top-100 prospects, safety Hylton Stubbs and linebacker Gavin Nix, who also committed to Miami’s 2025 recruiting class this week.

Alofaituli’s commitment continues the trend of the Canes targeting players from Bishop Gorman, solidifying the school as a key pipeline for Miami. For head coach Mario Cristobal and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal, finding an elite center to develop has been a priority for two years. Alofaituli, as the top center target on their board, became one of their highest priorities for the 2025 class.

So, what are the Canes getting in SJ Alofaituli? According to Gabe Brooks from 247Sports:

Elite football player who could likely provide earlier snaps at the college level. Owns excellent combine testing athleticism reflected in on-field movement ability. More than comfortable in space as a puller or climber. Gets to spots on schedule and can be a tone-setting run-game presence. Flat-backed knee-bender in pass protection, playing with active feet and quick, decisive hands. Lower frame potential could cap long-term upside. Exceptionally high-floor interior O-line prospect whose position-relative athleticism and advanced technical skill still make for a particularly high-caliber prospect in the 2025 class.”

With Alofaituli’s commitment, Miami now boasts the 8th ranked recruiting class in Florida and the number one recruiting class in the ACC. The Canes are on track for another top ten class nationally. As the foundation of their class solidifies, Miami will focus on securing big-time targets at defensive end, cornerback, and wide receiver through July and August. If Miami’s on-field performance matches their recruiting proficiency, this class could finish as a top three in the nation.
