Islam Makhachev reminded the world why he is the pound-for-pound king by submitting Brazil’s Renato Moicano in the first round. Originally slated to face Arman Tsarukyan, Makhachev accepted Moicano as a last-minute replacement after Tsarukyan was forced to withdraw on weigh-in day. Makhachev retained his title in the main event, making short work of late replacement Renato Moicano. Moicano stepped in on just one day’s notice, moving up from his scheduled bout against Beneil Dariush. Despite the last-minute change, Makhachev’s confidence and skill shone as he controlled the action. After a cautious start, Makhachev capitalized on an opening, securing a takedown and locking in a D’Arce choke at the 4:05 mark of the first round. The victory marked Makhachev’s record-breaking fourth lightweight title defense, extending his record to 27-1 and reaffirming his dominance at 155 pounds.
The co-main event featured Merab Dvalishvili defending his bantamweight title against undefeated challenger Umar Nurmagomedov in a high-paced battle of wills. Nurmagomedov started strong, using his striking to keep Dvalishvili at range and even becoming the first fighter in seven fights to take the champion to the ground. However, Dvalishvili’s relentless cardio and pressure turned the tide in the later rounds. By Round 4, the Georgian champion had firmly taken control, breaking Nurmagomedov’s resistance with body shots, constant forward movement, and a record-setting number of takedowns. The judges scored the bout 48-47, 48-47, and 49-46 in favor of Dvalishvili, who retained his crown in what many are calling one of the greatest bantamweight title fights in history. Nurmagomedov later revealed he had broken his hand in Round 1, adding to the drama of the bout.
In another marquee matchup, former light heavyweight champion Jiri Prochazka delivered a thrilling third-round TKO over Jamahal Hill in a wild back-and-forth encounter. Both men engaged in exciting striking exchanges, but it was Prochazka who found the breakthrough in Round 3, dropping Hill with a massive right hand and finishing the fight with ground-and-pound strikes. The referee stepped in with 1:59 left in the final round, giving Prochazka a victory that cements his status as one of the division’s top contenders.
The main card also featured other standout performances. Jailton Almeida showcased his power with a first-round TKO over Serghei Spivac. Reinier de Ridder displayed his grappling prowess by submitting Kevin Holland via rear-naked choke in the opening round. Raoni Barcelos earned a unanimous decision win against Payton Talbott in a competitive contest.
The preliminary card saw Azamat Bekoev stop Zachary Reese with a first-round TKO, while Bogdan Guskov secured a second-round guillotine choke victory over Billy Elekana. Grant Dawson dominated Diego Ferreira in a unanimous decision win. Ailin Perez, Muin Gafurov, and Bernardo Sopaj also delivered strong performances, earning unanimous decision victories. Tagir Ulanbekov capped off the prelims with a commanding unanimous decision win over Clayton Carpenter.
