Life Wallet athlete, UM Hurricane quarterback Tyler Van Dyke has been named to the prestigious Maxwell Award watch list as announced by the Maxwell Football Club. Since 1937, the Maxwell Award has been presented to the College Player of the Year and is named in honor of Robert “Tiny” Maxwell, a former standout at the Swarthmore College and a renowned sportswriter and football official.
Van Dyke is one of just twelve ACC players on the list for the 86th Maxwell Award and one of just sixteen sophomores who made the prestigious list.
Van Dyke looks to be the fourth Hurricanes to claim the Maxwell Award: joining Vinny Testaverde in 1986, Gino Torretta in 1992 and Ken Dorsey in 2001. Good luck Tyler!
