Top-10 SEC Matchup Headlines a Big Weekend of College Baseball

#3 Florida vs #6 South Carolina

The biggest matchup in college baseball this weekend is a top-10 battle between the Gamecocks and the Gators. The third ranked Florida Gators have won three straight and eight of their last ten, but will be traveling to Columbia, South Carolina where the Gamecocks have been nearly perfect on the year. South Carolina is arguably the best team in the country when playing at Founders Park where they have a 21-1 record this season. The lone home loss for the Gamecocks was against the top ranked LSU Tigers in a series where USC still took two out of three at home. While South Carolina has been the best home team in college baseball, Florida has been arguably the best road team. The Gators are 8-1 away from Gainesville with their single road loss coming to the eleventh ranked Tennessee Volunteers. This top-10 matchup will have big time conference implications as both teams currently sit in the top three in the SEC East heading into this weekend. The pivotal series will get started Thursday night at 7:30 on ESPNU with games two and three airing on the SEC Network+ on Friday and Saturday.

#20 Boston College vs #16 North Carolina

Another top-20 matchup headlines the weekend over in the ACC as Boston College travels down to Chapel Hill to take on the North Carolina Tar Heels. Both teams will be looking to bounce back after dropping series to conference opponents at home this past weekend. UNC lost two out of three to Miami while Duke took two out of three from Boston College before the Eagles lost 12-1 to UConn in a midweek matchup. Boston College is one of the few teams in the country that have been better on the road than at home, so traveling to UNC might be a positive for the Eagles. BC is 7-5 at home compared to 17-7 when playing games on the road or at neutral sites. All three games in this series will be broadcast on the ACC Digital Network starting Friday night at 6:00pm.

#24 Southern Miss vs #10 Coastal Carolina

Two of the top three teams in the Sunbelt Conference will be toeto toe this weekend when the Southern Miss Golden Eagles hit the road to face a top-10 Coastal Carolina squad. Southern Miss is coming off of a three-game sweep of James Madison where they outscored JMU 29-9. The Chanticleers are coming in just as hot, riding a three-game win streak and outscoring their opponents 31-8 over that span. Both teams have been putting up crooked numbers often, so it should be a fun and high scoring series that will have a huge impact on the conference standings. All three games will be available through ESPN+ with the first pitch in game one scheduled for 6:00pm on Friday night.
