Tennessee Volunteers Clinch First-Ever Baseball National Championship

OMAHA, Neb. — In a dramatic finale at Charles Schwab Stadium, the Tennessee Volunteers captured their first national championship in college baseball with a 6-5 victory over Texas A&M in the Men’s College World Series on Monday night.

Tennessee’s (60-13) historic win was highlighted by a crucial two-run home run from Dylan Dreiling in the bottom of the seventh inning. Dreiling, who was named the Most Outstanding Player of the series, also contributed a sacrifice fly in the third inning and hit home runs in all three CWS finals games, showcasing his consistent clutch performance.

The Volunteers’ journey to the championship was anything but straightforward. After dropping game one to Texas A&M with a score of 9-5, Tennessee rebounded with a late offensive surge in game two to win 4-1. Despite Texas A&M’s four-run rally in the final two innings, Tennessee closer Aaron Combs struck out Ted Burton to end the game and seal the victory.
