Chicago White Sox Field Coordinator, Mike Tosar, is expected to be named the hitting coach for the Miami Hurricanes Baseball program, according to a source. Tosar, who played for the Hurricanes Baseball program from 1988-1991, brings a wealth of over 25 years of experience to the position.
Drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 39th round of the 1987 draft, Tosar had a playing career in the Minor League before transitioning to coaching and scouting roles in the mid 1990’s. He served as a scout and hitting coach for various organizations, including the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, Florida Marlins, and Minnesota Twins.
In 2006, Tosar joined the Seattle Mariners as a scout and A-ball hitting coach, later becoming the team’s outfield and baserunning coordinator. He then moved on to the Los Angeles Dodgers’ international scouting department from 2012-2019.
In 2020, Tosar joined the Kansas City Royals as a special assignment hitting coach, eventually joining the major league coaching staff.
Now, with his appointment as the hitting coach for Hurricanes Baseball, Tosar is set to make a significant impact on the team’s performance, drawing from his extensive playing and coaching experience.
