The Miami Hurricanes football program, under the leadership of head coach Mario Cristobal, continues to bolster its roster through the transfer portal in preparation for spring practices. This afternoon, Isaiah Taylor, former safety for the Arizona Wildcats and son of NFL Hall of Fame pass rusher Jason Taylor (current defensive line coach for the Hurricanes), announced his commitment to Miami via social media.

Isaiah, a three-star recruit from the class of 2021 at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, joins the Hurricanes alongside his father, who transitioned from coaching at the high school to the Hurricanes’ staff when Cristobal assumed the head coaching position before the 2022 college football season.

With 56 tackles, one tackle for loss, one game-ending interception, and two pass breakups in 22 games for the Wildcats, Isaiah Taylor arrives with two years of eligibility remaining at Miami. His younger brother, Mason Taylor, currently stars as a tight end for head coach Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers.

Isaiah Taylor marks Miami’s second acquisition at the safety position this off-season, following Savion Riley from the Vanderbilt Commodores, who committed to the Hurricanes on December 16th. Both Riley and Taylor, boasting valuable game experience, are anticipated to compete for starting roles at the two vacant safety positions ahead of the 2024 season, following the early 2024 NFL Draft departures of star safeties Kamren Kinchens and James Williams.
