The Florida Panthers are on the brink of advancing to the Stanley Cup Final after a thrilling 3-2 victory over the New York Rangers in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final at Madison Square Garden. Sam Bennett played a pivotal role with a goal and an assist, helping the Panthers take a 3-2 series lead. Anton Lundell netted the decisive goal midway through the third period, and Gustav Forsling added a key score. Goalie Sergei Bobrovsky made 25 crucial saves to secure the win.

Chris Kreider initially put the Rangers ahead with a shorthanded goal early in the second period, capitalizing on a turnover by Matthew Tkachuk. The Panthers responded when Forsling scored with a backhand shot, setting up a tense final period. Lundell broke the deadlock with a wrist shot from the left circle, and Bennett sealed the game with an empty-net goal with less than two minutes remaining. Despite a late goal from Alexis Lafreniere, the Rangers could not complete their comeback.

Florida’s penalty kill was impeccable, nullifying all three of New York’s power-play opportunities and maintaining their momentum. The Panthers’ aggressive defensive play and disciplined approach have been key throughout the series. “We showed up, played really well, and are happy for the win. Now we just need to recover and focus on the next one,” said Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov.

The Rangers, now facing elimination for the first time this postseason, will need to regroup and find a way to force a Game 7. “Close isn’t cutting it,” said defenseman Adam Fox. “We need to capitalize on our chances in big spots.” Goalie Igor Shesterkin made 34 saves, but the relentless pressure from the Panthers proved too much.

The Panthers will have the chance to close out the series at home in Game 6, scheduled for Saturday night in Sunrise, Florida. With their sights set on the Stanley Cup Final, the Panthers are determined to capitalize on their home-ice advantage, while the Rangers must dig deep to keep their championship hopes alive.
