Jaden Davis’ college football career did not begin in South Florida, but it will end there as he announced his commitment to the University of Miami on Monday. He chose the Hurricanes over the Illinois Fighting Illini after taking an official visit to both schools.
For Davis though, it won’t be his first stint in the sunshine state during his football career. He was a local four-star recruit, state champion and Under Armour All-American for powerhouse football program St. Thomas Aquinas in Fort Lauderdale, Florida during his prep days.
Davis is a key addition for the Hurricanes via the transfer portal, as they have attempted to add more talent to the cornerback position group since the early departure of Tyrique Stevenson to the NFL Draft and the graduation of DJ Ivey since the 2022 season ended.
His commitment marks the second cornerback addition from the transfer portal (Terry Roberts from Iowa being the first), the fourth incoming cornerback including Miami’s two incoming recruits (Four-star’s Damari Brown and Robert Stafford) and ninth overall transfer portal addition for the Hurricanes this offseason.
The 5-foot-10 185-pound cornerback played in 37 games and started 22 of them for the Oklahoma Sooners over the course of four seasons, while recording 101 tackles, 10 pass deflections and one interception.
Davis according to a source is expected to compete for a starting position at one of two outside corner spots with spring practice starters Davonte Brown and Daryl Porter Jr., and at the nickel position with Te’Cory Couch this fall.
