LifeWallet Sports congratulates Jake Garland, of Miami Hurricanes Baseball, on signing with the Oakland Athletics organization as a 17th round 514th pick. Garland is a Jupiter, Florida, native and as a four-year starter at Jupiter High School he helped lead the team to its first state championship in 2018. Garland was a two-time FHSAA all-state selection and two-time 9A player of the year.
Garland joined the Hurricanes in 2020 and as a RHP made six appearances out of the bullpen going 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA with 12 strikeouts in a covid shortened season. In 2021, Garland made a team high 13 starts and went 6-4 with a 5.69 ERA over a team high 68 innings pitched. As a third-year sophomore in 2022, Garland went 6-2 with a 3.99 ERA in 14 appearances. Garland played a big part in helping the Hurricanes achieve a sixth in the nation ranking and a host selection for the first round of the NCAA tournament.
