In a surprising turn of events, former Miami women’s basketball star Haley Cavinder has decided to re-enter the NCAA Transfer Portal. This decision comes merely six months after her initial retirement announcement, which had left fans speculating about her future endeavors.

Haley, along with her twin sister Hanna Cavinder, had helped the Hurricanes rise to the Elite Eight of the Women’s NCAA Tournament, showcasing their skills on the court. However, the dynamic duo soon decided to explore opportunities beyond basketball after the tournament run concluded, with rumors swirling about a potential future in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE). However, it appears that, at least for the time being, Haley’s wrestling aspirations have been put on hold.

A source has shared that Haley’s decision is to explore her options in the transfer portal, and there’s a possibility she may choose to remain with the Hurricanes for the upcoming season. Nevertheless, it’s confirmed that she intends to return to the basketball court for the upcoming season, despite her retirement announcement alongside her sister Hanna in April. It’s worth noting that Hanna does not plan to return to basketball. This development would mark the first time the twins are not playing on the same team together.

Haley Cavinder intends to play during the 2024-25 season, so she’ll take this year off before returning to the court next fall. During her last season with the Hurricanes, Haley averaged 12.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. Her decision to re-enter the NCAA Transfer Portal has undoubtedly piqued the interest of collegiate basketball programs around the country in hopes of acquiring her talent.
