As one of college football’s most storied rivalries, Miami Hurricanes vs. Florida State Seminoles is set to deliver another chapter at Hard Rock Stadium this Saturday. The Hurricanes, currently No. 6 in the nation with a flawless 7-0 record, are blazing through the season, while Florida State, at 1-6, faces the daunting challenge of salvaging their season against a Canes team that has been untouchable so far. Both teams enter with drastically different expectations and pressures, creating a stage set for intense rivalry action and one of the biggest recruiting weekends in Miami history, featuring over 120 recruits and 50 blue-chip prospects from the 2025 and 2026 classes.

Miami, led by quarterback Cam Ward, boasts the country’s top passing attack, a machine churning out 362.6 yards per game with Ward responsible for 24 touchdowns. His efficiency and explosive play have elevated the Hurricanes’ scoring to an average of 48.3 points per game, second only to Indiana nationally. Ward’s ability to execute Miami’s offense at such a high level is a major reason the Hurricanes are undefeated and a favorite in the ACC title race.
Florida State, on the other hand, has struggled to find an offensive rhythm all season, averaging just 15 points per game, second-worst among FBS teams. The Seminoles’ inability to crack the 300-yard mark in their last ten games has put them on the brink of missing bowl eligibility, with a need to win every remaining game. Florida State’s receivers must elevate their game against a Miami secondary that has shown some susceptibility, surrendering eight passing touchdowns over the last three games. This weekend, the Seminoles will rely heavily on punter Alex Mastromanno, who leads the nation with a 49.4-yard average per punt, to flip field position in hopes of keeping Miami’s offense in check.

Players to Watch
Florida State: Mastromanno’s booming punts may be the Seminoles’ best chance at containing Miami’s offense. Meanwhile, they’ll need major contributions from the receiving corps to challenge Miami’s defense, which has struggled recently, allowing 39 points per game over the past three matchups.

Miami: Cam Ward, Miami’s star quarterback, continues to make headlines with his astounding stats, including leading the nation in points responsible for (166) and total offense per game (389.7 yards). Wide receiver Xavier Restrepo, with 2,403 career receiving yards, is chasing the Miami record books, looking to surpass legendary names like Michael Irvin, Reggie Wayne, and Santana Moss.

If Florida State wants to keep the game within reach, they’ll need to capitalize on Miami’s recent defensive lapses, especially through the air. The Seminoles have been stagnant offensively, but this is their shot to make a statement. However, with Miami’s aggressive offense likely pressuring them throughout, Florida State’s passing game faces a mountain-sized challenge against the Hurricanes’ strong secondary.

Prediction
Miami enters this game focused to continue their quest to the ACC Championship game and at the same time, erase the sting of a three-game losing streak to the Seminoles. Playing at home with a high-octane offense and Heisman-level play from Cam Ward, Miami appears too strong for the reeling Seminoles. Expect Ward to take control early, putting Miami in command from the first quarter. Florida State may manage to strike a few times, but Miami’s firepower and depth should prove overwhelming. With Miami’s offense running at an elite level, expect the Hurricanes to dominate, extending their winning streak.

Prediction: Miami 48, Florida State 17
