While Mario Cristobal and his coaching staff have focused on Washington State’s Cameron Ward and Kansas State’s Will Howard as their top two quarterback options in the transfer portal, both of whom were brought in for official visits last week, I had also alluded to another undisclosed quarterback option for Miami in the last two LifeWallet Sports X (formerly known as Twitter) spaces. Despite Miami’s request to keep it confidential, the information was disclosed this evening by a third-party website. The quarterback in question is Arkansas’ KJ Jefferson, who entered the transfer portal on November 29th.
Jefferson, with one year of eligibility remaining, threw for 7,911 yards and 67 touchdowns through the air while running for 1,876 yards and 21 touchdowns on the ground in 44 career games for the Razorbacks. Although some Hurricane fans may be concerned by the public revelation of this news, a source has indicated to me on Sunday and again this evening that Miami maintains a sense of confidence in their position regarding Cameron Ward’s recruitment, particularly in the head-to-head battle with in-state rival Florida State. Meanwhile, a couple of schools like Auburn and Ohio State have both expressed interest in Ward behind the scenes.
Stay tuned to LifeWallet Sports, as we will be hosting a Twitter space tomorrow with news and updates on the transfer portal for the Hurricanes and the 2024 recruiting class in anticipation of the early signing period, which begins on Wednesday, December 20th.
