The 2023 Nike EYBL circuit concluded on Sunday, marking the end of the travel basketball season for many of Miami’s recruiting targets.
A few of these notable players starred in the E16 championship game between Miami-based Nightrydas Elite and Maine United. The rematch between top 2025 prospects Cameron Boozer and Cooper Flagg was the premier storyline heading into the game, but electric 6-foot-3 point guard Cayden Boozer stole the show.
Cayden led the Nightrydas to the championship win, finishing with a game-high 23 points and a team-high five assists and three steals. This performance capped off an impressive week from Cayden, who had a 10-point, 15-assist outing against Team Why Not in the semifinals.
Both Cayden and Cameron Boozer, who attend local Miami Columbus (Fla.), are priority targets for the Hurricanes in the 2025 recruiting cycle, with Cameron being widely regarded as the top one or two players in his class.
Also on the Nightrydas and holding a Miami offer, 6-foot-4 guard Alexander Lloyd was hyper-efficient, shooting 59% from the field, 46% from deep and 88% from the free-throw line for 13.7 points per game. The Westminster Academy (Fla.) product has also received offers from Florida Atlantic, Florida Gulf Coast, Florida State, Dayton, IUPUI and Chicago State.
Like Lloyd, Nightrydas guard Dante Allen was also extremely efficient. Allen, who has offers from high-major programs like Miami, Villanova and Michigan, averaged 14.9 points per game on a 60% clip from the field. He had an 11-for-11 shooting performance against Team Why Not.
In the 17U division, guards Jaeden Mustaf and Austin Swartz both shot under 40% from the field as Boo Williams stumbled to a 1-4 record during the week. Still, both Swartz and Mustaf established themselves as two of the best guards in the class of 2024 on this circuit, earning EYBL Regular Season Second-Team honors.
Mustaf told LifeWallet Sports last week that Miami, which made his top five schools list in April, “is still one of those schools” that has been recruiting him a lot.
6-foot-10 stretch forward Garrett Sundra contributed to Team Takeover’s Peach Jam Championship, averaging 4.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. His most impressive showing was in pool play against The Family, scoring 14 points and grabbing five rebounds.
Sundra included Miami in his top five schools list in June. He told LifeWallet Sports in May that he “really [likes] the way Coach L coaches. He coached one of my high school coaches, Lamar Butler, in that Final Four run at George Mason, so that’s super cool to me. I really like the run he had, the Final Four run this year.”
Team Final had a 4-2 record throughout the week, and this was due in large part to leading scorer Jalil Bethea, who averaged 18.7 points per game on 50% shooting from the field. Bethea is regarded as one of the top scoring guards in the country, and UM is in contention for his commitment. The 2024 guard recently told Hitmen Hoops Scouting that Miami is one of the schools that communicates with him a lot.
Shooting guards Rakease Passmore and Billy Richmond had similarly successful weeks. Each player, who has received an offer from Miami in recent months, averaged nearly 14 points per game and shot over 53% from the field.
