The year 2023 presented a series of highs and lows for head coach Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes Football program. Despite a promising 4-0 start, the team concluded the season with a 3-6 record in their last nine games. As we usher in 2024, a fresh start has arrived, with new prospects and opportunities for improvement. Notably, a star transfer quarterback is in the fold, and a significant portion of Miami’s highly-ranked 2024 recruiting class has already arrived in Coral Gables as early enrollees. Additionally, the spring anticipates the impact of eight transfers poised to reshape the team dynamic for next season, and potentially more, as Miami is not done adding to its roster from the transfer portal yet.
According to a leaked schedule, the Hurricanes will return to Greentree Practice Fields to begin spring practice on March 4th. They will have three consecutive practices on March 4th (Monday), 6th (Wednesday), and 8th (Friday).
Following a brief hiatus for spring break, the team will resume practice on March 19th, adhering to a weekly schedule of practices every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for four consecutive weeks. The entirety of Miami’s spring practice spans 15 sessions, concluding on April 13th, a Saturday.
While the location for Miami’s spring game remains undisclosed, historical patterns since Mario Cristobal’s arrival as head coach in December 2021 suggest the possibility of DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, once again. This venue, currently home to Inter Miami CF and international superstar Lionel Messi, has hosted the Hurricanes’ last two spring games.
However, considering the relocation of the annual Canes Fest event for its fans to interact with coaches and players to Hard Rock Stadium this past August for a closed scrimmage ahead of the 2023 regular season, the very same venue the Hurricanes play their games during the season could also be considered an option for the upcoming Spring Game, of course, if the schedule permits depending on what Hard Rock Stadium has planned this spring in terms of any other events or concerts they may be hosting.
