The Miami Hurricanes continue to blaze a trail on the recruiting front. Following the recent commitment of four-star offensive lineman Max Buchanan, the Hurricanes have secured another significant addition with the commitment of Chaminade-Madonna defensive back Chris Ewald Jr.
Ewald, a four-star prospect from a renowned feeder school in Chaminade-Madonna, is ranked among the top 175 national prospects according to the 247Sports Composite. He holds an impressive list of 34 offers nationwide, reflecting his high demand.
This commitment marks a significant victory for the Canes, as they faced a tough battle with Georgia to secure Ewald’s pledge. His commitment adds to the Hurricanes’ growing reputation on the recruiting trail.
Ewald has been a standout player since his sophomore year, when he earned a starting role for the Lions. During that season, he recorded 25 tackles, 12 pass breakups (PBU), and 4 interceptions (INT). He followed up with an outstanding junior campaign, helping Chaminade-Madonna Prep clinch a Florida 1M title. Ewald tallied 45 tackles, 20 PBUs, and 2 INTs in that championship season, per MaxPreps.
Ewald is the second defensive back commit in Miami’s 2025 class, joining Timothy Merritt, and becomes the 13th overall commitment for the Hurricanes. With Ewald’s addition, Miami’s recruiting class now ranks 17th in the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The Hurricanes’ recruiting efforts remain scorching hot as they continue to build what they hope is another top five recruiting class.
