The Miami Hurricanes were in search of two wide receivers that could make an impact from the transfer portal since the end of the 2022 season. While they didn’t have much luck during the first transfer portal entry window before spring practice, that’s completely changed during the second period after spring.
Miami would land a commitment from their first in former Alabama and Louisville wide receiver Tyler Harrell on Friday night, and today they have their second.
Reedley College (CA) JUCO WR Shemar Kirk announced his commitment to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday. He would make his decision among a group of notable offers between the Texas A&M Aggies, Mississippi State Bulldogs, UCF Knights and the Hurricanes.
Kirk recorded 76 receptions, 1446 receiving yards and 15 touchdown receptions over the course of 18 games in two seasons at Reedley College. Standing in at 6-foot-1 and weighing 190-pounds, Kirk has the ability to make defenders miss in the open field, the necessary body control to come down with tough contested catches and provides a plus on special teams as a return man.
Miami has added four receivers overall, two from the transfer portal and two from the high school ranks (four-star’s Nathaniel “Ray Ray” Joseph Jr. and Robby Washington) since the end of the 2022 season. Kirk is expected to compete at the ‘Z’ wide receiver position with current starter, Jacolby George, during the Hurricanes fall camp in August ahead of the 2023 regular season.
