The Canes have been looking to get a quarterback on board to build their 2024 class around and tonight they have done just that. Miami landed a commitment from Judd Anderson, a 6’6 gunslinger from the peach state. Anderson chose the Canes over the likes of Pittsburgh, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech and others. The Jones County High School quarterback is ranked as a consensus three-star prospect and is a player that the Miami coaching staff has been very high on recently.
Judd was offered by the Canes in early March and was on campus this week meeting with the staff and taking in spring practice. Offensive Coordinator Shannon Dawson and the Canes’ staff quickly sold Anderson on the Miami program and the offensive system. Dawson’s offense and relationship with Anderson were major factors in being able to get him to kickstart the 2024 class. At 6’6”-215, Anderson possesses ideal size and a strong and accurate arm that impressed the Miami coaches. Dawson wanted a big, athletic quarterback to run his offense and Anderson certainly fits that bill.
As a junior, Judd Anderson completed over 56% of his passes and threw for nearly 1,800 yards with 17TDs to help get his team to the Georgia high school football playoffs. The overall athleticism of the Canes’ newest commit is a huge trait that led the Miami staff to push for him. Anderson is a dual sport athlete that also averaged over 19 points and 16 rebounds per game for his high school basketball team.
The Canes’ coaching staff will look to surround Anderson with talented pass catchers starting with some local stars. Big time South Florida athletes Joshisa ‘Jojo’ Trader and Lawayne McCoy are two guys that Miami would love to have jump in the 2024 class with Judd Anderson sooner rather than later. McCoy has been on campus multiple times over the past few weeks and was at Miami’s spring practice on Thursday along with Anderson.
