The Miami Hurricanes offered interior offensive lineman Grant Wise on May 19, but the class of 2026 prospect knew about UM and its football program long before this date.
Grant’s father, Ty Wise, played center at Miami from 1996-99. His mom also attended the school.
“He loves Miami. He had a great career there playing center,” Wise told LifeWallet Sports about his dad. “There’s a lot of other great players who played on his team and he couldn’t say anything really bad about it. He said he had a great time at Miami.”
Miami was the fourth school to offer Wise, joining South Florida, Charlotte and Troy. He received this offer after Hurricanes assistant head coach/offensive line coach Alex Mirabal evaluated his film.
“So Coach Mirabal asked my dad for some film and stuff cause he was looking into me and he saw that I was doing pretty well. He watched some practice film, some highlights from last year and the spring game, and he decided to pull the trigger … I was excited. I couldn’t stop smiling the whole day. It was a big deal,” Wise said.
“I know that the program has been a staple in Florida. They’ve won a lot of national titles. They’ve been really good for a long time, and I think that the program is on the rise and they’re gonna be really good here soon.”
Wise enjoyed a successful freshman campaign at Pace (Fla.) High School, finishing the season with 115 knockdowns and no sacks allowed. Already standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 300 pounds, Wise has the size of a prototypical high-major prospect as just a rising sophomore. He will be an intriguing player to watch out for in the coming years as he continues to develop.
