The Miami Marlins bounced back from a disappointing weekend series against the Cincinnati Reds to sweep the Washington Nationals this week. The Marlins won all three games behind the strength of their pitching and timely hitting.

MVP of the Week
Jorge Soler: The Cuban slugger was the most consistent performer for the Marlins this week. He hit two home runs, four RBI, and three runs scored. Soler also walked three times and struck out just once.
Cause for Concern
Jazz Chisholm Jr: The young star is still nursing a hamstring injury and was held out of the lineup for the final two games of the series. Chisholm is one of the Marlins’ most dynamic players and his absence was felt.
NL East & Wild Card Standings
The Marlins are currently in second place in the NL East, 1.5 games behind the New York Mets. The Marlins are also in the thick of the wild card race, 1.5 games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the second wild card spot.
The Marlins have won four games in a row and are playing some of their best baseball of the season. They will play the San Francisco Giants on Friday. Cy Young Winner Sandy Alcantara (1-4) is scheduled to start for the Fish.
