In a high-scoring first game of the playoffs, the Lakers defeated the Grizzlies 128-112. The game saw impressive performances from LeBron James, who scored 21 points, grabbed eleven rebounds and provided five assists, and Anthony Davis, who contributed 22 points, twelve rebounds, and an outstanding seven blocked shots. Rui Hachimura led the Lakers with 29 points, and five Lakers scored in double figures. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies relied on Jaren Jackson Jr, who scored 31 points, and Ja Morant and Desmond Bane, who scored 18 and 22 points, respectively.

Both teams had injury scares during the game, with Anthony Davis leaving in the second quarter due to a stinger but returning in the second half, and Morant left the game in the fourth quarter due to a hard fall. Austin Reaves played a crucial role in the final five minutes of the game, scoring nine points in a row to seal the win for the Lakers, who now hold home-court advantage over the Memphis Grizzlies.

With a 75% historical success rate for teams winning the first game of a seven-game playoff series, the Lakers will look to build on their momentum in Game 2, which is scheduled for Wednesday night.
