In an exhilarating Champions League semifinal at the Santiago Bernabeu, Real Madrid pulled off a comeback for the ages to defeat Bayern Munich 2-1, securing their spot in the final against Borussia Dortmund. The hero of the night was Real Madrid’s Joselu, whose late brace turned the game on its head.

The match was tied at zero for most of the game with Bayern taking the lead through a stunning strike from substitute Alphonso Davies in the 68th minute. The goal put Bayern ahead 1-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate, seemingly paving their way to the final. However, Real Madrid, known for their dramatic comebacks, lived up to their reputation.

Joselu, who had been relatively quiet for most of the game, suddenly sprang to life in the closing minutes. In the 88th minute, he converted a cross from Antonio Rüdiger, leveling the score and reigniting the hopes of a Madrid comeback. Not content with just drawing level, Joselu struck again in the 91st minute, sending the Bernabeu into a frenzy and securing Real Madrid’s passage to the final.

Joselu, reflecting on his performance, humbly brushed off hero status, instead highlighting the collective spirit of the team. “It was incredible, spectacular. This team never gives up,” he stated, overwhelmed by the magnitude of the occasion.

Real Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, praised the team’s indefatigable spirit and the electric atmosphere at the Bernabeu that seemed to propel the players beyond their limits. “It’s something inexplicable,” Ancelotti remarked on the comeback, adding that the squad has consistently exceeded expectations this season.

This victory marks Real Madrid’s sixth Champions League final appearance in the last 11 years and it keeps alive their hopes of clinching a LaLiga and Champions League double, having already secured the domestic league title.

Real Madrid now turns its focus to the final in Wembley, where they will face a tough Borussia Dortmund team that advanced a day before after defeating Paris Saint-Germain and their star striker Kylian Mbappé . However, Real Madrid is not intimidated. They are a star-studded team with star talent at almost every position and arguably two of the best young superstars in the game in Bellingham and Vini. With Madrid’s proven track record of excellence in Europe’s premier club competition, it would be foolish to bet against Los Blancos on June 1st.
