LifeWallet athlete Isaiah Wong of the University of Miami men’s basketball team is on the Naismith Player of the Year Midseason Team, as announced Thursday afternoon.
Wong, who is also on both the Wooden Award Late Season Top-20 Watch List and a Jerry West Award Top-10 candidate, is among the most productive players in the country for the third consecutive season.
A fourth-year junior guard, Isaiah has averaged for 19th/20th ranked Miami (19-5, 10-4 ACC) this season – 16.0 points per game, 3.5 assists per game and 1.5 steals per game. He is also third among the Hurricanes roster in rebounding (4.5), In addition to shooting 43.9 percent from the floor, 36.8 percent from beyond the arc and 82.8 percent at the free-throw line.
Wong is in elite territory of his own, he is the only Power Six player in the country that is averaging at least 16.0 points, 4.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
The Piscataway, New Jersey, native is sixth in the ACC in steals average, eighth in scoring, 10th in free-throw shooting percentage, 12th in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.83), 14th in field-goal percentage and 15th in assists average.
Wong is the owner of the highest single-game scoring total among any player in the ACC conference this season, when he recorded 36 points against Cornell University on December 7th, 2022.
