Playing with nationally renowned DEFCON, class of 2025 wide receiver Jaylen Moore performed well at OT7 this past weekend. This acclaimed 7-on-7 tournament matched Moore up against some of the top players in the country.
“My experience at OT7 was great. The tournament was well put together,” Moore told LifeWallet Sports. “I think I played great against some of the top guys … made some plays to help the team out. All together it was a great experience.”
Moore was a difference maker last season at Monrovia (Calif.), catching 34 passes for 560 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games. He is transferring to Westlake (Calif.) for his junior season, where he’s “just trying to basically improve better than last year so everybody in the world knows my name.”
Moore’s collegiate recruitment started before he ever played a snap of high school football. Michigan State offered Moore in August 2021, which was during the summer heading into his ninth-grade year.
“That was big for me. That’s definitely a confidence booster going into ninth grade,” Moore said. “That was my first offer … It just made me mainly want to work more and pick up more and more offers.”
Since then, the 6-foot-1, 173-pound wideout has received offers from Nevada, Colorado and Miami, among others. His offer from the Hurricanes was his most recent, as it came on May 22.
“I was surprised,” Moore said. “I know they produce good receivers for sure. That’s like, my main thing. I like how they run their offense too so getting it was big.”
