The Miami Hurricanes Baseball team were back in action on Tuesday evening, and they would not dissapoint.

Miami extended their winning streak to five and coasted to a 14-3 victory over the UCF Knights at Alex Rodriguez Park at Mark Light Field.

The Hurricanes would jump out to a lead early on and sustain it, by dishing out runs in four of their eight trips to the plate.

“Just a good complete game, I was proud to see how our guys played. We got a big lead there and we got a lot of guys in the game,” Miami Hurricanes head coach Gino DiMare said.

The second inning would be highlighted by the Hurricanes connecting on three-runs via a pair of doubles from junior Dominic Pitelli and sophomore Dorian Gonzalez, Jr.

Pitelli would extend Miami’s edge 5-1 over UCF with a two-run homer in the fourth inning.

“I’m trying to be aggressive and not miss my pitch early in the count. It’s a big confidence booster when you see everyone in the lineup hit like we do,” Pitelli said.

During the sixth inning, junior Ian Farrow would rip a multiple base-clearing triple down the right field line just before LifeWallet athlete, Yohandy Morales, would secure a run for Farrow with a sacrifice fly ball.

The Knights would respond back with two runs of their own in the eighth inning but that burst of offense would be short lived, and Miami would punch back immediately.

The Hurricanes would record five runs in the bottom half of the eighth, getting home runs from sophomore Renzo Gonzalez and freshman Jason Torres.

Miami’s right-handed pitcher Alejandro Torres would strike out five UCF batters and outlast nine in total during his stint. Torres sports a perfect 3-0 record when starting this season as Miami’s pitcher.

“I felt great out there, I just pounded the strike zone and hit my spots. I trusted the pitch-calling from J.D. Arteaga and I really have to tip my cap to Carlos Perez. He did a heck of job back there framing pitches and stealing strikes for me,” Torres said.

Right-handed pitchers Ben Chestnutt and Ronaldo Gallo and the lefties in Chris Scinta and Rafe Schlesinger would all contribute and pitch the final seven innings, that group would hold UCF to only three runs on five hits.

“Every game is the most important game of the year. We came in today knowing what we did this weekend, but knowing that we still have to compete and that’s what we did today. Now, we’re ready for the weekend,” Dominic Pitelli said.

The Hurricanes will hit the road to take on their second top-10 opponent in just two weeks. They have a matchup set with the seventh-ranked Virginia Cavaliers at Davenport Field at Disharoon Park. The first pitch is set for 6:00 P.M. EST on Friday and the series will broadcast on the ESPN+ app.
