It’s chess, not checkers. The Miami Hurricanes football program has scored a commitment with the addition of three-star defensive back Ryan Mack from St. Thomas Aquinas High School (FL).
Ryan Mack’s commitment holds a big significance as he follows in the footsteps of his father, former Miami Hurricanes linebacker Rod Mack, solidifying their family legacy within the program.
Rod Mack actually coached for the Miami Gardens Ravens, while mentoring star players like 5-star wide receiver Jeremiah Smith (currently committed to Ohio State), 5-star wide receiver Joshisa Trader, 4-star safety Zaquan Patterson, 4-star wide receiver Lawayne McCoy (currently committed to Florida State), and 3-star linebacker Vincent Shavers during their optimist football days. In fact, Ryan Mack himself had the privilege of being coached by his father alongside these talented athletes, which built strong connections both on and off the field.
What makes this commitment even more important is the close friendship between Ryan Mack and Joshisa Trader. According to a source within the Miami football program, both Mack and Trader share a desire to play together at the collegiate level. With this commitment, they now have the opportunity to make that dream a reality.
Before making his decision, Ryan Mack weighed his options, considering schools like Florida State, Pittsburgh, and Penn State. However, in the end, he chose to commit to the Miami Hurricanes on Monday to continue the family legacy in Coral Gables.
Ryan Mack’s addition marks the third defensive back to join the 2024 recruiting class, joining defensive backs Dylan Day and Isaiah Thomas.
