It would not take long for the Miami Hurricanes Football team to get good news on the recruiting trail once again, but it’s not coming from the transfer portal this time around. On Friday night, it was three-star linebacker Vincent Shavers out of Miami Central High School (FL), who would announce his commitment and join Miami’s 2024 recruiting class.
Since their annual spring game ended, the Hurricanes coaching staff has been making their rounds with spring football evaluations locally and across the country within the high school ranks. Among racking up miles on numerous drives and flights, one of those stops was to Shaver’s new school, a reigning state champion in the Miami Central Rockets.
Miami’s linebackers coach, Derek Nicholson, was one of the coaches who paid a visit to watch Shavers up close at practice. Nicholson would come away impressed after that visit, which had began the process on how Miami would ultimately decide to give the local linebacker, the signature green light to commit.
Shavers reportedly stands in at 6-foot-1, while weighing 205 pounds. He recorded 125 tackles, 16 sacks, two pass breakups and two fumble recoveries for Monsignor Pace High School (Miami, FL), during his last two seasons. The three biggest traits that standout at linebacker for Shavers, he’s very fast for the position, he has played both sides of the ball and his pass rushing ability.
With Shavers in the fold, Miami made their way back inside the top-25 rankings in the country for this years recruiting cycle, according to the recruiting ranking industry services.
