Jones County (Ga.) quarterback Judd Anderson became the second commit – and first skill position commit – of Miami’s 2024 recruiting class when he pledged to the Hurricanes on April 7. Since then, Anderson has been nonstop in recruiting other players to join him at Miami, surpassing the expectations of UM’s coaches.

“I kind of took it upon myself. They kind of told me when I committed … that I was gonna have to start recruiting. They didn’t think I’d take it to the level I did. They thought it was going to be a little something here, a little something there. What I’m doing right now is really, really, really good,” Anderson told LifeWallet Sports. “It’s what they want from me, just talking with other guys, whether it’s on the defensive side of the ball or whether it’s on the offensive side of the ball. And just really getting to know guys, really getting to know some of the different dudes that they go get, and I think that’s really important.”

This recruiting of other players is seen publicly on Twitter, where Anderson regularly interacts with Miami commits, targets and other accounts that follow the program closely.

Anderson brought this same type of positive energy about the Hurricanes on his official visit this past weekend. This was his first trip down to Miami since taking an unofficial visit there on April 6, a day before he announced his commitment.

Not only did this visit present Anderson with a chance to further connect with Miami’s coaching staff, but it also gave him an opportunity to meet and build a relationship with the many uncommitted recruits interested in the Hurricanes, as well as the players who are already a part of the class like blue-chip wide receiver Chance Robinson

Anderson recognizes the importance of relationship-building in recruiting, as his connection with Miami’s staff was a big reason why he committed to the ‘Canes.

“If you build a relationship with them, they’re gonna see how much you care about them,” Anderson said. “I think that’s really important in the recruiting process.”
