The Miami Hurricanes continue to build an elite 2025 recruiting class with the latest addition of 4-star safety Bryce Fitzgerald out of Columbus High in Miami, FL. Fitzgerald, a multi-sport athlete and dynamic playmaker, has committed to the Canes over archrival Florida State, solidifying Miami’s growing reputation as a top destination for elite talent.
Fitzgerald, who is a key component of Columbus High’s Florida 4M state championship run in 2023, made a significant impact on both sides of the ball. His standout performance included 10 interceptions, two of which he returned for touchdowns, showcasing his ball-hawking ability and football IQ. At 6’1″ and 185 pounds, Fitzgerald is not just a defensive star but also a versatile athlete who contributes on offense and special teams. He’s been known to score touchdowns as a wide receiver and return man, demonstrating his exceptional athleticism and playmaking skills.
Ranked among the top 150 players nationally on the composite and 21st overall in Florida, Fitzgerald is the third safety to commit to Miami in the 2025 class, joining fellow 4-star talents Hylton Stubbs and Amari Wallace. With this trio, the Hurricanes have secured one of the most formidable safety groups in the nation, giving them flexibility and depth in the defensive backfield.
Fitzgerald’s versatility cannot be overstated. A track star and punt returner for Columbus, he brings speed and agility that will be an asset on special teams, potentially as a special teams demon. On defense, his ability to high-point the ball and make game-changing plays could see him line up at either cornerback or safety, depending on the Hurricanes’ needs. Offensively, his skills as a fluid route runner make him a viable option at wide receiver if Miami’s coaching staff chooses to utilize him there.
This commitment marks the fourth addition of a “RAW” player to Miami’s 2025 class, a testament to the Hurricanes’ emphasis on bringing in athletes with both high upside and the potential to contribute in multiple ways. With Fitzgerald in the fold, Miami now boasts 22 commitments and has climbed to the 9th-ranked class in the nation.
For the Canes, the task now is to harness Fitzgerald’s immense potential and figure out the best way to utilize his talents on the field. Whether he’s making plays in the secondary, returning punts, or even catching passes, Bryce Fitzgerald is poised to be one of the most athletic and impactful defensive backs Miami has seen in years.
