Mario Cristobal and the Miami Hurricanes are gaining momentum on the recruiting trail after their 48-33 victory over the 23rd-ranked Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday. Waden Charles, the talented four-star wide receiver from Palm Beach (Fla.) Central High School in the class of 2025, has committed to the Miami Hurricanes over offers from the Florida Gators, Florida State Seminoles, Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, and the Texas A&M Aggies.
Charles has had the opportunity to spend quality time with Miami’s new wide receivers coach, Kevin Beard, with whom he has developed a strong and promising relationship since Beard’s arrival during the offseason, including multiple visits to the Coral Gables campus. Charles was in attendance with 50-plus other blue-chip recruits during Miami’s victory and their offensive explosion against the Aggies, which played a pivotal role in Charles’s decision to commit and join Miami’s 2025 recruiting class.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver is a star in South Florida high school football, where he showcased his immense potential during his sophomore year with Somerset Academy Canyons. He recorded an impressive 53 receptions for 1,067 receiving yards, averaging 20.1 yards per catch, and scored eight touchdowns. His outstanding performance as a wide receiver has garnered the attention of numerous college scouts and secured his reputation as a top prospect in the state for the class of 2025.
In addition to his prowess on offense, Charles is a versatile athlete who excels on both sides of the field. As a sophomore, he notched 1,228 all-purpose yards, displaying his ability to contribute in various aspects of the game. On defense, Charles demonstrated his skills as a safety, registering 66 tackles and three interceptions.
Through his first two seasons, he has accumulated a total of 2,037 all-purpose yards on offense and eight interceptions on defense.
Charles becomes Miami’s second commitment in their 2025 recruiting class, joining four-star quarterback Luke Nickel, who committed to the Hurricanes during the second week of August ahead of the regular season slate. With Charles’ commitment, Miami rises from 31st in the country all the way up to 15th in the composite recruiting team rankings for the class of 2025, according to recruiting industry services.
