The Miami Hurricanes Men’s Basketball team clinched a significant victory over the 16th-ranked Clemson Tigers, with a final score of 95-82. This triumph at home marked a continuation of their unbeaten streak at their home court, elevating their record to an impressive 9-0 this season.

The highlight of the game was the remarkable performance of Nijel Pack, who, after a two-week hiatus due to injury, returned to the lineup with a bang. Pack scored an impressive 25 points, with 20 of these coming in the second half, playing a pivotal role in steering his team to victory. His contribution was crucial, particularly in a 21-6 run where he scored 13 points, helping the Hurricanes to establish a nine-point lead with 10 minutes remaining – a lead that Clemson could not overcome.

Matthew Cleveland and Norchad Omier were also instrumental in this victory, each adding 23 points to the scoreboard. This collective effort led to an unusual feat, as noted by Miami coach Jim Larrañaga, who couldn’t recall a previous instance in his long career where three players had scored at least 23 points in the same game.

Despite the absence of Wooga Poplar, Miami’s second-leading scorer who missed the game due to a sprained ankle, the team didn’t falter in their offensive execution. Kyshawn George, starting in place of Poplar, contributed significantly with 12 points, all from 3-pointers. Bensley Joseph also added a solid 12 points, showcasing the depth and versatility of the Hurricanes’ roster.

Clemson, despite a strong start, couldn’t sustain their momentum in the second half. They were led by Joseph Girard III, who scored 18 points, and PJ Hall, who added 17 before fouling out. Chase Hunter also pitched in with 16 points. However, Miami’s relentless attack proved too much for the Tigers, who struggled defensively, conceding 60 points in the second half.

This victory for Miami shows their resilience and depth, especially considering the challenges posed by injuries and lineup changes. Moving forward, the Hurricanes, now 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference, are poised to take on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, hoping to extend their winning streak and solidify their position as a formidable force in the ACC. As ACC play intensifies, this win undoubtedly bolsters the confidence of the Hurricanes, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.
