After the Canes finally got over the hump and secured their first road series win of the season, they returned to South Florida for two games against in-state opponents. On Tuesday night, the Canes extended their home winning streak to ten games as they defeated Bethune Cookman 12-6. Miami was riding an eight-game win streak against opponents from the state of Florida as they made the short trip up to Boca Raton on Wednesday night. A late game comeback by FAU ended that streak and sent the Canes home with a loss in extra innings.

Miami will be back at Mark Light Field and looking to bounce back when Georgia Tech comes to town for a three-game weekend series. The Yellow Jackets have struggled both in ACC play and on the road this year. Tech has lost seven of their last eight conference games and has yet to win a series away from home this season. Last weekend, Georgia Tech traveled to Blacksburg where they were swept by Virginia Tech and outscored 32-10 in a three-game series.

This weekend will provide a great opportunity for the Canes to extend their ten-game home winning streak and improve their position in the ACC standings. Miami’s offense has remained red hot at home and is averaging nearly eleven runs per game during this ten-game home winning streak. The Canes currently sit third in the ACC Coastal, but a sweep this weekend could put UM right back in contention for the top spot in their division. Miami needs to take advantage of playing a struggling opponent at home this weekend because the season only gets tougher as the Canes will travel to Louisville to take on the twelfth ranked Cardinals next weekend.

The series will get started on Friday night in front of the Mark Light faithful and many of their four-legged friends. Miami will be hosting “Bark in the Park” on Friday night and will have a full section designated for Canes’ fans to bring their furry friends out to the ballpark. The Canes will hope to give them plenty to bark about with first pitch coming at 7:00pm. For those who can’t make it out to Mark Light Field this weekend, all three games will be broadcast on the ACC Digital Network.
