Inter Miami CF secured a thrilling 2-1 comeback victory over Atlanta United on Sunday night, climbing to the top of the Eastern Conference standings. The match saw Lionel Messi find the net for the first time this season and Fafá Picault score a dramatic late winner to avenge last year’s playoff elimination.

The game started on a frustrating note for Miami as Atlanta United’s Emmanuel Latte Lath opened the scoring in the 11th minute. The striker capitalized on a well-placed header to put the visitors in front, marking his third goal in four matches.

Despite the early deficit, Miami responded quickly. Just nine minutes later, Messi showcased his world-class skill by intercepting a pass as Atlanta attempted to play out from the back. With this win, Inter Miami now sits atop the Eastern Conference with 10 points from four matches, boasting victories over Atlanta, Houston Dynamo, and Charlotte FC. They currently trail only Vancouver in the Supporters’ Shield race.

Messi’s goal was a welcome sight for Miami fans, especially after he missed multiple matches due to muscle fatigue. His return to the lineup and immediate impact reaffirmed his importance to the team’s success.
